Grow Where You're Planted

Hi everyone! :) I made a card with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week. The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this sketch was the Yin-Yang symbol! It's a totally different sketch by Jennifer Brum. Anyways, my idea was to try some soft colors for the card. Thus, I used a lovely color combination from Color Throwdown challenge this week : Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Pretty In Pink and Cool Caribbean. This is the first time I'm entering a color challenge. Do check out their fabulous creations!

I bought some cute tag paper pads from Michaels recently and I picked a lighter color tag to stamp on the sentiment. I love the sentiment "Grow where you're planted" and decided to use it for this card.  I embossed the flowers, leaves and the sentiment with clear embossing powder. I couldn't resist doing some faux stitching around the images as well as the tag! I finished off the card with a thread around the pink patterned paper and tied a little bow. That's all!

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday

Hi there! I'm enjoying taking part in challenges that helps me to stay creative and productive :) I feel so happy to play along with Friday Mashup challenge this week. This is my first time participating in the mashup challenge. The challenge is to create a project using the sketch, or using the "brick wall" technique or mash it up and create a project using the sketch and brick wall technique. The brick wall technique is something that I've never tried before. So, I decided to give it a try.

It's time to relax! :) Thanks for stopping by!

Make a Wish!

I'm so inspired looking at Seize the Birthday blog by Lesley Croghan recently, and wanted to play along with her sketch challenges. She is full of energy and has an amazing talent. Wonder how she participates in other challenges and at the same time hosts this great birthday challenge blog. I'm "totally in love" with her work! Well, yesterday I managed to get some free time and made myself to get creative... so came up with this birthday card for this week's sketch by Jen Nelson.

I decided to use mixed patterned papers for this sketch and I layered them on black cardstock. I've never tried layering patterned papers on black cardstock because I usually prefer using ivory, kraft, or white base. But, I took it as a challenge to push myself out of my comfort zone and tried something new and different. So, I picked red on top of black and I really liked the way these three different patterned papers worked so well together.

Super Star Dad!

It's been a month since I shared a card. My craft room was in a big mess. Totally unorganized! Finally, I fixed a date to clean the room and started working on my card for this week Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I made this card for my dad. He is my first hero! Although I couldn't share the day with him, I can show my love by sending him this fun card. So, Daddy this is for you. Love you always! :)

I usually take more time in choosing the right patterned paper that best suits the image/sentiment. But, this colorful stars patterned paper really caught my eyes. Undoubtedly it was the right choice for the sentiment that I decided to use on my card. So, I had no confusion! :) I'm so happy to achieve a bright and colorful card in the end. It was a great challenge indeed!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! :)
